My name is Alaina and I currently reside in central Massachusetts with my husband David. I won’t bore you with the mundane details of my past (believe me, I could go on and on). Basically my blog is just a journal of the fun goings-on in my life.

I started blogging about my training for the Maine Marathon in 2010 (Blissful Running), then started The Jogging Concierge to branch out in to talking about my every day life. I was able to keep that up ’til about the spring of 2012. Since then, life got in the way: David returned home from Afghanistan and we started building our house.

In 2014 I embarked on my biggest challenge to date: running 30 races to celebrate turning 30 years old! Since then, I’ve kept things easy, only running 3 race last year, and I plan to run 1 this year. I currently work as a concierge in downtown Boston, and the latest project has been our gargantuan garage.

I will still continue to write up about my every day life: exercising, baking/cooking, concierge-ing and whatnot. 🙂

  3. Great work!! I have been doing p90x off and on. I was doing it full on before Christmas but I really missed running outdoors. Now I do the weight days of p90x but run or swim the cardio days. Are you still following it 100%? Its a great way to get strength training in, that’s for sure. (what I have been lacking).
    I just stumbled on your blog so if I read more you may answer my questions for me 🙂 Looking forward to reading more!

    1. I haven’t been doing it lately. I just moved and I think my DVDs got lost in the shuffle. I would like to find them again and start doing the strength workouts along with my running. They really worked great! Except that I can’t stand Tony. Haha. Glad you found my blog! Hope to “see” you around! 🙂

  6. Hi Alaina! I just ran across your blog and had to comment. It looks like we have very similar philosophies. While my job doesn’t have the perks yours does (lucky!!!), I am a hard-core food-lover and I have to allow for that enjoyment. 🙂

    Congrats on the “payoff.” That’s awesome! I’m a P90X fan myself, though I never followed the program exactly. Anyway, I’ll stop rambling and just say I’m looking forward to reading more. 🙂

    A friend of mine came across your website and tweeted it to me. I live in Cape Town, South Africa, and I too am a concierge, I work at the 5 star Mount Nelson Hotel (www.mountnelson.co.za) and I am so glad she came across your blog as I have started running now, training to do marathons at some point. I needed some inspiration to get through the beginning stages of the training and I think that is where your blog comes in. It is so hard to watch what we eat at all out concierge functions!

I find it so inspiring to see people set a goal and work their butts off to try and achieve it because even though I have never had issues with being overweight, I understand how hard and trying they can be so bravo! I hope you’re enjoying your time in and around Boston which is not only home for me but hands down, one of my favorite cities on the planet! Keep up the amazing work!
